Workbench V2008 SP1 includes the Office Workbench component - offering much improved integration into Microsoft Office 2007 (and subsequently 2010). For a full list of improvements please read the Release Notes which can be downloaded by logging in to the Support Website and clicking the Release Notes option in the left hand menu.

Workbench Office requires the installation of a server side ‘Web Service’ and client component - this requires a technical knowledge of IIS and Web Services. We therefore strongly recommend the installation is carried out by an IdeaGen Installation Engineer. This will ensure your system is upgraded correctly and with the minimum amount of downtime. Please note the following: 

• There are a number of new system phrases included in this release. If you have altered terminology or have translated the dictionaries for different languages, you will need to ensure that your dictionaries are updated via the IntraLingua tool after the upgrade. If an IdeaGen Engineer is carrying out the upgrade he can advise you on which dictionaries require modification.

• If you upgrade your version of Workbench to v2008 SP1 and you use either IntraVista or IntraVista Professional you will need to ensure that you have upgraded the version of IV or IVPro to v2008 SP1. The IntraVista upgrade can be found on the Workbench CD, IntraVista Professional is available as a separate ISO file in the downloads section of the Support Website.

• You will need to check the upgrade logs of all your database after the upgrade has completed. The upgrade process carries out major changes to the database structure so it is essential these are checked to ensure no problems become apparent further down the line. Please see here for details and instructions on carrying out this essential post upgrade task.

The CD’s for both Workbench and IntraVista Professional can be downloaded as an ISO file from the CD ISO’s section of the Support Website. Once the ISO has downloaded you can burn this to a CD using the ‘burn image’ function of your CD writing software.
