This is a significant upgrade offering Windows 7 and Server 2008 64-bit compatibility. The upgrade introduces a new database engine which improves transaction speeds and provides outstanding security.
We strongly recommend that a Ideagen Installation Engineer carries out the upgrade on your behalf, to minimise system downtime/disruption and ensure the integrity of your database. The work can be carried out either on site, or remotely via WebEx. Customers who have taken out an 'Option 2' support contract can use any unused days to have the upgrade managed by one of our trained engineers.
Customers who have a 'standard' (Option 1) contract should contact Ideagen Technical Support for costs and further information.
If you wish to carry out the upgrade without engineer assistance, it is important the following points are adhered to;
- Your Workbench system MUST be at version 2008 SP1 Patch 4 before upgrading to v10.
- An image or full backup of the Workbench server is taken PRIOR to applying the upgrade.
- That notes are taken of the information on each tab in the Workbench Configuration Manager, especially concerning Aliases, Mail details, Domains and IVPro settings (if applicable). This information will be lost once Workbench has been uninstalled.
- All supporting upgrade/installation documentation is read and understood PRIOR to applying the upgrade.
- You notify the support department, advising of the intended upgrade date, so that resources can be made available (if required).
- The conversion utility is run several days prior to upgrading. Any errors shown in the resulting logs should be reported to the support team.
- All upgrade logs created during the upgrade are forwarded to support@ideagen.co.uk This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for analysis before moving onto the next phase of the upgrade. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT; Database integrity has to be verified before data is pumped into the Workbench 10 database structure. Ideagen Software Ltd cannot accept any responsibility for data loss or inconsistency, should this stage be omitted.
